S4's online materials and targeted emails are impressive, to say the least, and are beautifully designed to draw in families who may be dealing with EF challenges and the overwhelm that accompanies high school workloads, AP exams, and the SATs. Unfortunately, what those materials promise are far from what we were delivered. I was uncomfortable with their owner from the beginning, who was largely unresponsive, asked virtually nothing about my child or what our needs might have been - I had to offer her background information - volunteered no information about any of her tutors, and asked for my credit card number over the phone from her car, requiring payment in full for a six-session package before he was even paired with a tutor. The tutor with which he was ultimately paired was very pleasant and engaged well with him - which is the only reason we are rating S4 as highly as we are. However, the tutor canceled or rescheduled five of the six sessions - often at the last minute - for a variety of personal reasons, leaving him in a difficult spot in the days before significant tests or papers. Many of the sessions were cut short, and the majority of the 15-minute weekly "check-ins" that were supposed to accompany the regular sessions never actually happened. Ultimately, we just did not feel we received what we had paid for and when we advised the owner that we would not be continuing, she did not ask for our reasoning; we simply never heard from her again.

I initiated an interview process to begin searching for a tutorial service to proactively prepare my daughter for her SAT’s. Junior year as it is, with the additional stress of AP classes and other preparatory endeavors, is daunting. Michelle invested the time needed (which was no small task for an individual such as myself) to answer all my questions and walk me through objectives and methods. Her patience was extraordinary and thorough.We scheduled interviews with tutors from four companies for me and my daughter to evaluate. Michelle had Marc called us at an arranged time and the rest was history. Marc’s methodology was precise, and the result was an increase of over 210 points on the SAT. My high school student has struggled a lot with executive function and study skills. He has special needs and lots of academic challenges. My child, who is in middle school, would be emotional and stressed before certain exams or completing writing assignments. Her grades were all As but what she went through to achieve this was too much and not sustainable. I wanted for her to learn study skills and organizational skills that would help her with her schoolwork and through life. I have been working with Michelle and team over at Successful Study Skills 4 Students over a year now. They are so easy to work with when it comes to scheduling programs. My high school junior has made huge progress with executive function skills working one-on-one with her tutor. We thought we might sign up for a month or two to learn a good study system, but my daughter requested to continue, saying these sessions are the biggest factor in her success with her course load this year. She is learning to manage her time and she is learning quite a bit about managing her triggers for procrastination. The difference in my son’s confidence after taking this course was significant. He loved the test prep and the planning and organization training. He does all his work without us getting involved and he plans everyday when he will get his homework done. In the first couple months, he is tracking with all A’s and is completely engaged.

My son just completed a 3-day study skills workshop for middle school students and took away some important skills while having fun in the process. He mentioned that the sessions were all very well run, and the instructor did a wonderful job of keeping the class under control and motivated. He came home excited to share how to make mind maps, modified flash cards, use a planner, and organize class notes to prepare for tests. He is already applying the skills he learned to his first science test of the year! I personally sat in on a few minutes of each workshop and fully agree with my son’s assessment. The workshop teaches skills the kids don’t learn in school. I will definitely be sending my younger son to the same class when the time comes. Highly recommended for all students!

We have had a great experience with the team at Successful Study Skills 4 Students. They were very accommodating with taking the time to discuss our son's situation and walking us through every detail before we decided to commit. My son has gained a good deal of confidence through his lessons and we find that he has better motivation and desire for learning. I know that kids can only listen to parents for so long before they tune us out (especially teenagers!). Our son definitely appreciates that he has someone else to talk with about learning which takes the pressure off us as a family to achieve the goals we have set together. He also likes that this isn't the teacher who is grading him so he can be more open about his insecurities. He also receives lots of positive feedback and enthusiasm which helps to keep him engaged. The team at Successful Study Skills 4 Students is a joy to work with. As everyone's situation is unique, they were more than happy to answer my questions and provide proper guidance. My sons experience was a positive one. He is your regular old, lackadaisical teenager. Getting him to find an effective and successful strategy to approach school has always been and issue. During his workshop, he would come to me in excitement and explain what he learned that day. He would describe how much fun the staff was. Successful Study Skill 4 Students has been a life saver for my son and our family. At the beginning of the school year my 7th grade son could not get organized, stay focused and be engaged with virtual school. It was taking a toll on our entire family and we spent more time arguing and less time just enjoying each other. I would highly recommend S4 to any family that has children who are not typical learners or who need assistance in learning time management skills and managing assignments. My youngest has greatly benefited from her sessions with Kam and Louie. She is on the ADHD spectrum and, under their tutelage, she is developing the skills and techniques needed to keep herself on track with her high school assignments. Both of my teenage daughters have benefited greatly since we started working with S4 2 years ago. They were initially resistant but now they not only look forward to their sessions with Elyssa, they proactively request extra sessions. Elyssa has taught them how to plan ahead and break down their homework/studying into more manageable pieces - reducing their and our stress. We look forward to working with S4 and Elyssa for years to come.

Our boys have loved working with the tutors at S4! We have an eighth grader and a sophomore in high school and both were having a hard time with remote learning during the Pandemic. My younger son has improved his writing a great deal. After each of his sessions, he proudly reads to me the writing he has completed with his tutor’s guidance. My older son has really benefitted from S4’s coaching on how to study, how to plan out longer term projects and how to better understand and review difficult topics in math. Both boys are grateful to have the help they needed after a challenging academic year.

S4 has been a lifesaver for our family. They have allowed my husband and I to go back to being parents and relinquish the role of educator or tutor. Once they began working with Kam, we saw a tremendous gain in their ability to manage their workload. Our teenage children require different learning styles, and Kam has been able to accommodate both of them. Michelle, the President, has been consistently available. Whether it be one on one or in a parent group, she is always there to help steer the process. Michelle has been a catalyst to help us maximize the benefit of working with S4. My daughter is a junior in high school and was struggling with math and other classes since Covid. We signed her up with SSS4 and within a couple weeks she has turned her grades around. She is very proud of herself and I can see the difference in her attitude. I can't say enough about this organization. Wonderful parent support as well!

We decided to work with S4 because of the approach outlined by Michelle in an initial webinar and follow up discussion. Our son needed more than just tutoring, he needed help in discovering and engaging his own motivation to work.Our son has been working with Kam for about three months, and the change we’ve seen in him has been impressive. Forget the grades—which are better—he takes more accountability for his work and his engagement with his teachers. Kam does indeed help him with homework and projects. However, he also demands that our son complete assignments between sessions, communicate with teachers, and organize his own work. In addition, Kam has collaborated effectively with teachers and especially our son’s counselor.Certainly, not everything is perfect now. However, our son is in a far different place. As we told Michelle “he’s a different young man now.”

SSS4 has been wonderful for our son. The tutors have been so attentive to his particular needs, and maybe as important as anything they have inspired him to WANT to succeed. We have a great school district, but we can't imagine our son getting the same kind of experience without SSS4. His report card just came back with straight A's!!
